Taxes done, no big deal

I used TaxAct Free Confidence to file my federal return this year. It was pretty easy to get through everything. I just had income from one W-2 so it was straightforward. Didn't have any issues filing, and it was free which is good. Definitely easier than doing it all by hand.

Smooth filing, Xpert Assist handy

I filed my federal and state taxes using TaxAct Premier and also added TaxAct Xpert Assist. The process for entering all my investment income and rental property details went pretty smoothly; the step-by-step questions were clear. I did contact Xpert Assist once for a specific question about a carryover deduction and got a helpful response within the hour. The e-file process was quick, and I received confirmation a few days later. My only minor gripe was the occasional upsell prompts for additional services, but you can just click past them. Overall, it was a solid experience and I felt confident in my return.

Good for simple taxes, some friction

I used TaxAct Deluxe this year. It handled my federal and state filing fine, though I found the interface a bit clunky compared to others. It got the job done for the price, but I had a couple of questions that took a bit to get answered.

Anyone know if TaxAct does that refund advance thing? Kinda need that cash sooner rather than later this year.

Yeah, they do! Saw it listed as 'Refund Advance' on their site. Not sure on the exact conditions but it's an option.

They offer it. It's usually through a partner bank, so there might be some eligibility stuff to check on, like your predicted refund amount. Most tax software does it now though.

hey, trying to figure out which version of TaxAct to get. I've got some investments and rental property income to report. Would the Deluxe one do it or do I need to jump up to Premier?

Def go with Premier if you have investments. Deluxe is more for just W2s and basic deductions. Learned that the hard way last year lol.

I think Premier also covers the rental property stuff. Self-Employed is if you're like, truly running your own business, not just a side gig with some income sources. Check their site, it usually lists what each package includes pretty clearly.
